WHAT IS HARD WATER &
WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?

Hard water is water that contains dissolved minerals, and is present is 85% of US homes, so chances are good that you have hard water in your home! But don’t worry – it’s perfectly natural. In fact, hard water is formed when water comes into contact with minerals like limestone. This is like what happens in the natural aquifers that provide drinking water to our homes.

These dissolved minerals and heavy metals are not harmful (which is why they’re not filtered out by city water treatment systems), but they are the surprise culprits behind some of your toughest cleaning challenges. That's because these hard water metals and minerals can trap residues and odors like a glue.

Hard water is formed when water comes into contact with minerals like limestone. Minerals and heavy metals in your water build up over time and act like a glue on surfaces and fabrics

SIGNS OF HARD WATER
IN YOUR HOME

You may not realize it, but every time you clean, your water is working against you. The dissolved minerals and heavy metals in hard water are invisible at first, but as they build up over time, they start causing problems all over your home.

While these things may not seem related, they can all be caused by hard water:

Surfaces in your home:

  • Spots on Glasses
  • Soap Scum on Glass Shower Doors
  • Grime In Bathtubs and on Tiles
  • Clogged Shower Heads
  • Limescale or Buildup on Faucets

Fabrics like clothes, sheets, & towels:

  • Dingy Whites
  • Faded Colors
  • Stiff Fabrics
  • Lingering Odors

As the invisible deposits in hard water build up, they become like a glue that traps in residues and odors. And as this glue hardens, it becomes nearly impossible to scrub or wash away. While this hardened glue can’t be scrubbed away, it can be dissolved away with the right products. Clean smart, not hard!

VINEGAR ALONE ISN’T POWERFUL ENOUGH

Even though vinegar has low pH cleaning power, it isn’t powerful enough on its own to clean the hard water problems around your home. That’s because the vinegar you buy at the store isn’t concentrated enough to clean on its own, especially when mixed with water.

In fact, vinegar’s low pH gets neutralized almost immediately when it comes into contact with water, meaning it loses its cleaning power almost as soon as you use it.
